The team had a number of members who put in great effort every weekend, some sick or traveling quite a ways to be there.
Here are some highlights:
In the Category 1/2 races Everedy Cycling's Troy Adams traveled from down south to be apart of four of the six races. In just those four races Troy placed high enough to score 527 series points. Those points were enough to overtake the third place rider and Troy pulled off a second in the overall! This is even more impressive when you factor in he did it all on a mountain bike and 'just for fun'.

Everedy rider Rob Morley started the series in Category 4, won the first two races and earned his category 3 upgrade. Rob raced the remainder of the series in category 3 and surprised himself with some podium finishes. As the series wound down Rob was in the running to win the series overall. It came down to the last race of the series, Rob needed the current points leader to finish two riders behind and the overall would be Rob's. Even with a strong victory in the series finale it was not enough, Rob finished in second for the series by a mere 6 points! Is there an upgrade in the future?

The Category 4 races were very large this year. Even as the series went on and got colder this was the largest field every weekend. This category was handled by Mike Mefford, putting in consistent results despite a nagging cold-like sickness that lasted through a few races. Mike had his hands full at every race as the competition was stiff, however determination paid dividends as Mike brought home the overall series victory! Mike couldn't get enough in Cat. 4 however. He needed more pain and found just that in the single speed class. Mike was up there in the results in this class, keeping the points coming. Those points put mike at a tie for third in the overall standings, a super strong showing in one of the most popular race categories of the series. Nice job mike, Category 3 awaits.

Everett tackled the 35+ category which provided some great racing. There are some guys racing in this class that are legit and gave Everett some trouble and serious pain. Everett proved the benefit of consistency and showed up for every race and placed well. Going into the series finale Everett needed a good finish to clinch a podium in the series overall. Everett put his head down and went to work, gutting out a solid finish and taking third in the series. Nicely done!

Recently Everedy Cycling decided to add a junior development aspect to the team's goals. We have invited Jesse Stidham to wear our colors next season to see what he can do on the mountain bike. Both Jesse and the team are excited about this opportunity and look to help Jessee become a key member of the team. Jesse is no stranger to the start line and that was shown in his work in cyclocross this year. Jesse competes in the 10-14 age class and had no trouble in a total shut out, winning all 6 races! That sould be a great springboard into 2009.

We don't have too many picture of the racing this year. We will look to get some posted soon if they are available. For now visit Bart Nave Photography and check us out.

Also, visit the MSG 'cross website to get the race results. If you competed in the series please be sure to send a note of thanks to the parks who provide the great venues and to the sponsors who give the series the support that make it so muck fun to be a part of.

The outlook for the team looks cold. Cold because of the training rides that will be needed to come out hot in 2009. This is the season of dormancy, no news, not much exciting to tell, just getting out and riding the miles. We have made the decisions for our sponsorship and are in the middle of a clothing redesign to make sure the team will be seen in 2009.

Stay warm, ride slow and put in the miles.

2009: Shaping Up and Looking Good

The details are almost completely settled for 2009. The team has had to face quite a bit of adversity in terms of support for next season due to the economic climate but our sponsors stepped up BIG and we pulled together a great group of contributors that will make it all possible.

Dr enuf
Lloyd's
Appalachian Neurosurgical Clinic
Brewer construction
Biotronix
Everedyendurance
Wellmont
Alpha Q
Specialized
The Bike Shop

We have added a single roster post for a deserving Junior, Jesse Stidam, to see what he can do on the mountain bike. Jesse has done quite a few road races and completed a cyclocross series this year so we have decided to lend him a hand, allowing Jesse to show us what he can do, in hopes of helping him advance through the cycling ranks. We are looking forward to being able to watch his development!

More updates are coming. We have some race results to report from some of the team's riders and are getting an idea of the schedule for next year.

Until next time...

2009 Outlook

Things are looking good. Everett and I have switched from talking about the 2009 season to taking action and getting things in motion. We are beginning to approach our key potential sponsors and have gotten some positive feedback. We do not have anything formal to announce as of yet but we expect to have a few commitments in the coming weeks.

The roster is looking incredibly strong for next year. I cannot wait to roll out this group of monsters at the first race. We are going to blow a few races apart, without a doubt. All the guys have had great seasons so far and stand to build on their successes and turn in even better results next year.

For those that don’t know I am helping Everett get the team off the ground for next year. Everett mentioned to me about riding for the team next year and I offered to help with the management and direction efforts. I have had the time to do the planning recently and if you know Everett, time is not something that comes in abundance for him as a father, cyclist, employee and the host of other roles he plays.

Keep an eye on this site and watch for updates. If you wish, subscribe to the team blog and the updates will come directly to you. We will also report on the race results of some of our riders for the remainder of this season.

Ride Bikes!

Rob
